Premature Tire Wear – Major Ownership Concern
By Gleber | on Tuesday, February 24, 2026
I purchased a new 2025 Mazda CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid and currently have about 16,500 miles on the vehicle. Despite normal daily driving, proper maintenance, and all scheduled services completed at authorized Mazda dealerships, all four original tires were completely worn out and required full replacement far earlier than expected. This level of tire wear is abnormal for a vehicle in this class and price range, especially one used primarily as a family vehicle. I was verbally informed that premature tire wear is a known concern with this model, possibly related to the vehicle’s weight and design, yet no meaningful assistance or corrective solution was offered. At this rate, the vehicle may require tire replacement on a yearly basis, creating an ongoing and unreasonable cost of ownership. In addition to the financial burden, this also raises safety concerns for a family car used daily to transport children. I hope Mazda acknowledges and addresses the root cause of this issue for current and future owners.… - 2.0
Too Much Bad Overshadowed the Good
By Brett | on Monday, March 09, 2026
I'll start by saying I'm glad this was a lease. We owned the vehicle for 30 months and a touch over 30,000 miles. We had countless trips to the dealership, many times being turned away as this was an undocumented problems, or a "fix" is in the work. The biggest, unresolved issue was loss of power when going from electric to engine during speed/load. It would dangerously lose speed while on freeways, going up hills, etc. We had clunking front suspension, sticking steering, phantom sensors while driving, unpredictable adaptive cruise among many other smaller issues. Or local dealer also did a poor job of explaining solutions and most often wrote us off as complaining about "normal" behavior for the vehicle, which made our situation much worse. We originally intended on purchasing the vehicle at the end of the lease, but after the experience, we were not interested in keeping it. Not to mention, in that 30 months, the value had decreased so much, it did not make sense to keep it. I did really enjoy the way the vehicle looked, both exterior and interior. The finishes were the nicest I've seen in any of my previous Mazda's and it is moving in the right direction to complete with more luxury brands. With that said, after driving some competitors (Lexus/BMW/Merc), the extra expense is well worth it.… - 2.0
Multiple issues including the brakes
By Alex | on Monday, March 02, 2026
I have leased my Mazda CX90 for over a year and while the vehicle has many positive qualities, my ownership experience has been overshadowed by the recalls, unrefined transmission, and a persistent and unresolved brake issue. This vehicle is longer recommended by Consumer Report. Since early in my lease, the brakes have produced a loud, high pitched squealing noise at very low speeds. This problem has required multiple visits to Mazda dealership, yet the issue remains unresolved. Each time I bring the vehicle in, I am told that this is a known issue and that the corporate office is "working on a fix." Unfortunately, more than a year has passed with no solution provided to the customers. If Mazda is aware of a widespread issue affecting the CX-90, why has it taken so long to provide a remedy? Customers should not be expected to repeatedly visit dealerships for a known problem that remains unresolved. What makes this even more disappointing is that my lease will be ending in the coming months, and I recently received a correspondence from my local dealership asking whether I would consider purchasing the vehicle or leasing another Mazda. It is difficult to consider staying with Mazda when a known defect has persisted for over a year without a meaningful response or fix. Mazda has built a reputation for driver experience and I hope that they take meaningful action to address this long-standing widespread problem for current CX-90 customers.…
